ELECTRIC DRAGON — LUNAR NEW YEAR

Commissioned for Federation Square’s 2015 Lunar New Year celebrations, Electric Dragon combined shadow puppetry, animation and live performance across five nights on the main stage. After an animated introduction, audience members stepped onstage to create their own dragon and guide its movement by hand. Their performances were mixed live into the film, with interactive sound extending the experience. Each participant added a chapter to the story, turning a festival spectacle into something the public could help make.
