Best Digital Experience Award

ECHO

ECHO received the Best Digital Experience Award at Sheffield DocFest in 2019. Created by Georgie Pinn with creative producer Kendyl Rossi, the installation invites a participant to encounter another person’s story through a virtual mirror. Facial tracking brings the visitor’s own image into that exchange, making identity and personal narrative part of the experience.

Georgie shared her award celebration on 12 June 2019, describing it as “Best interactive experience”. The award is recorded as Best Digital Experience in festival and venue records. ECHO later featured in the Barbican’s Alternate Realities programme in January 2020, extending the work’s exploration of human connection to a London audience.

Honorary Mention — Interactive Art+

ECHO

ECHO received an Honorary Mention in the Interactive Art+ category of the 2018 Prix Ars Electronica. The recognition places Georgie Pinn’s interactive storytelling work within the festival’s international presentation of art and technology. Its central invitation is personal: encounter another person’s story and see aspects of their identity reflected through your own.

The official CyberArts record describes an installation combining touch-screen interaction, real-time facial tracking, animation and portraiture. It credits Georgie Pinn (Electric Puppet), creative producer Kendyl Rossi and software developer Jeremy Boulton. ECHO was presented in Linz as a booth-like space, with local graffiti artists contributing to its walls. The honour recognises this original storytelling installation; the later ECHO/OHCE sculpture develops that practice in another form.

The work behind the recognition

ECHO’s honours relate to the interactive storytelling work. ECHO/OHCE is its later sculptural development for public space. Individual presentations carry their own collaborators and credits.
